The Name

What Is Inside, and Why It Was Chosen

Every ingredient in Osculata Virilis was selected for what it actually does on the skin. Nothing decorative. Nothing unnecessary.

Beeswax The shield. Beeswax is what gives this balm its structure and staying power. It forms a breathable protective layer on the lip surface that locks in moisture, blocks wind and cold, and prevents the chapping that starts with dryness and ends with cracking. It is the reason one application lasts.

Jojoba Oil The one that works like your own skin. Jojoba is technically a liquid wax, not an oil, and its molecular structure is closer to the skin’s own sebum than almost anything else in botanical formulation. It absorbs immediately, regulates moisture without clogging, and provides the kind of baseline hydration that keeps lips from feeling tight or dry throughout the day. It is the workhorse of this formula.

Sunflower Oil Lightweight. Effective. Non-greasy. Sunflower oil is rich in linoleic acid and absorbs quickly without leaving residue. Emu Oil Rendered from the fat of the emu, a bird native to Australia, emu oil has a fatty acid profile that closely mirrors human skin lipids, allowing it to absorb deeply and efficiently. High in oleic, linoleic, and palmitic acids, it is known for its ability to support prolonged moisture retention and a rich, nourishing skin feel. It is non-comedogenic, deeply penetrating, and valued in both traditional Australian Aboriginal skincare and modern cosmetic formulation for its emollient and skin conditioning properties.  It is what separates this from a standard chapstick.

Cocoa Butter Deep conditioning. Long-lasting softness. Cocoa butter melts at skin temperature and creates a rich conditioning layer that holds moisture in and keeps the lip surface smooth and supple. It is a slow, deep conditioner, working beneath the beeswax barrier to keep the skin itself from drying out. Its subtle natural scent blends seamlessly with the mint.

Rosehip Oil The repair ingredient. Rosehip is rich in vitamin A precursors and essential fatty acids that support cellular renewal at the skin surface. For lips that are already cracked or peeling, rosehip is what helps them recover. For lips that are in good condition, it keeps them that way.
